Imagine Your Story – Summer Reading 2020
While we’ve had a very slow start, Summer Reading at APL is up and running. The theme, Imagine Your Story, encompasses fairy tales, folklore, fantasy, legends, tale tales, family history, and much more!
Sign up at the Library or on our Facebook page. Then, go to Google Play Store and download the app for Reader Zone. This is where you will keep track of your reading achievements this summer. It is very easy to use, and can be downloaded to a smartphone, iPad, e-reader, or computer.
In Reader Zone, choose the code for the program you want. For children and teens ages 3 to 16, use code 1653a. For tracking participation in activities, use code 62344. For adult readers, use code 22e38. A parent or caregiver may enroll each child in the family at the same time. Then just log reading time each day.
Children will receive a chain and brag tag after logging 30 minutes of reading time. Then, as minutes accrue, they earn beads. Plain beads may be traded up to glitter, glow-in-the-dark, alphabet, and animal-shaped beads.
Pick up book bags and activity sheets at the library. Encourage children to try a book from the Super Secret Book Club. Choose a wrapped book, take it home before unwrapping, and read at least 3 chapters before deciding whether or not to finish it.
As the summer progresses, we will announce some public programs with controlled attendance. Watch this space and our Facebook page for updates.
